Standards
Today, there is no common technical standard for in-home powerline communication. Certain industry players do offer proprietary specifications, but these by no means represent an industry standard. Work on a standard has begun and Poem Technologies Co Ltd is very actively involved in its development.
Understanding that it will take some time to achieve, Poem Technologies Co Ltd is in the meantime advocating a coexistence approach to ensure alternative PLC technologies do not interfere. This it believes is a sensible first step towards a full interoperability standard.
In June 2005, the IEEE established the IEEE P1901 group to work on a standard for high-speed communication over AC power lines. Poem Technologies Co Ltd I supports the actions of the group, and intends to maintain a watching brief over proceedings.
Poem Technologies Co Ltd supports the work undertaken by SiConnect with the ETSI powerline technology working group that is pursuing a co-existence approach.
Poem Technologies Co Ltd supports the work of CEPCA in the creation of an industry-wide coexistence standard for in-home PLC.
Poem Technologies Co Ltd supports the work of the Home Gateway Initiative , a group supporting PTTs wishing to define common specifications for delivering multimedia content into and around subscribers' homes via the residential broadband connection.
Poem Technologies Co Ltd's flexible and low cost Poem Technology platform is very well suited to implementing the technical standards of the future. Based on the work undertaken by SiConnect it is also the only PLC technology designed to be compliant with current EMC regulations throughout Asia, Europe and USA
